Boarding

REQUIREMENTS

Boarding Contract
A Boarding Contract must be filled out completely and received PRIOR to boarding.
Completed applications with signatures can be emailed to: office@akjar.org
Spayed or Neutered
Only dogs who are spayed or neutered may board with Juneau Animal Rescue
Vaccinations
Dogs must be up to date on the following vaccinations*:
Rabies, Distemper/Parvo combination,  and Bordetella (cough-guard)​​​
​​*Bring/send records from your veterinarian. Proof of Rabies must be in the form of a Rabies Certificate.
​Flea Preventative
Dogs must have a veterinary approved flea medication** applied, such as: Frontline, Advantage, Revolution, Ovitrol X-tend or other veterinary approved product. All Flea Medications are effective for 30 days.
​Fecal Exam or Dewormer
Fecal exam with negative results in last 90 days OR treatment with a veterinary approved broad spectrum dewormer** in last 90 days.
**If you have any questions regarding the type of flea medication or dewormer, please ask the clinic staff.
Juneau Animal Rescue offers some of these veterinary services to our boarding clients. Certain restrictions may apply. Call 789-0260 for more information.
Dogs that have problems kenneling and/or aggression may not be allowed to board. We do not board cats at this time due to space constraints.

BOARDING FEES

$33 per day
Per day, per dog* - includes exercise/food/elevated bed/blankets/toys
Daycare Clients
​If your dog is scheduled to be in Doggy Daycare, there will be an additional $15 fee each day
Extended Stays
Pets that are scheduled to stay more than two weeks must pay half of the total boarding fee at check-in
Exit Bath - $24
NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. Schedule an Exit Bath before pick-up, and Fido will be squeaky clean for pick-up!
​An Exit Bath consists of shampooing, rinse, and towel dry.
Quarantine Fee
For dogs with missing medical requirements who require emergency boarding, a $50 quarantine fee will be charged so treatments can be provided at the owner's expense
*Per Day means ANY amount of time on each given day of stay, including a partial day.

FOOD

Our Food
All dogs are fed Hill's Science Diet in the recommended amounts
Feeding Schedule
We feed each dog twice a day; once in the morning and once at night
Special Diets
Bring your own food if your dog is on a special diet. Due to lack of sufficient refrigerated/frozen storage space, JAR cannot feed dogs raw food. Please bring food as listed below:
  • Package your dog's meals in individual Ziploc bags.
  • Label each bag with your pet's first name and your last name "Fido Smith"
  • Label each bag "A.M." or "P.M.", even if your dog grazes/free feeds
​Please do not put medications, vitamins, or supplements in the bags. (See Medication below)
​Allergies
  • Tell us about any food allergies. We love to give treats, but only if they won't upset dietary restrictions.
  • Special diet treats can be brought in an individual Ziploc bag or plastic container labeled with your dog's first name and your last name "Fido Smith"
Special Requirements
If your dog requires any special feeding requirements, please be sure to provide detailed instructions.

MEDICATION

Original Container
Medications must be in the original containers they were dispensed in from your veterinarian. No injectable medications please.

 ​You must provide us with a detailed Boarding Medication Form
​Questions?
​​Questions or concerns regarding dispensing of medication while your pet is staying?
Call us at 789-0260 and discuss them with our clinic staff prior to boarding.
Dispensing Fee
We charge $3.00 per day/per dog for dogs needing medication, regardless of the number of doses per day. No injectable medications please.
Clinic Administrative Fee
An additional Clinic Administrative Fee of $25 will be charged to any owner dropping off medications NOT in their original container
